The Bridge in the Park

Marge and Bill went to the Bridge
To fetch a bucket of ice.
Not for a martini.
Not for an ice tea.
But for an ice chest.
They shoulda gone to the Fridge.

For you see, under the table
the two chat room buddies
had lost their high speed isp
and had to use dial up.
And meeting in person
Was much cheaper than cable.

They laughed, giggled and did talk
For hours at a time
Ignoring food and drink,
Not hearing the phone,
Not answering the door
The call of nature they did not balk

“Bill, where are you?” asked his father.
“Marge!” yelled her mom.
But it was to no avail,
Neither paid much attention
To real world calls,
For that was just a big bother.

They kissed and were nice
By the bridge in the park
They got cold,
They got hot,
But forgot to take home
The big bucket of ice.
