We are are own worst enemies
You break me down
Stone by stone
You'd have me believe
I'll die all alone

My heart feels good
You make it bruise
Your goal in life
Is to see me lose

Windows open
You hold me back
You like me unhappy
You thrive when I lack

Love tries to sprout
You watch it die
My hurt eggs you on
Triumphant in my cry

Success knocks
You shut the door
I can't get ahead
You keep the score

You keep me bound
Tied down in fear
Your selfish desire
Holds me here

I try to break free
I try to run away
I don't deserve it,
Is what you say

I shed a smile
A hint of joy
You shut it down
All part of your ploy

I feel so down
Cant stand on my own
You say it's the fruit
Of the seeds I've sown

I fall to my knees
For help I cry out
I cant even accept it
My foundation is doubt

I give too much
I lean too far
Another notch on your belt
As I bear a new scar

You're my gravest opponent
My strongest contender
I stand no chance
I have no defender

How far will you go
We'll all wait and see
You're my worst enemy
You are me
