Describes the Beatles impact on me personally and the world at large.
Part 1 Innocence

My mother reading the TV guide
out loud decides on Ed Sullivan
prompting my tantrum of the day.
Two weeks from being five yelling
"No bugs!" having developed
a phobia while in the yard at play.

Part 2 Somehow Knowing

Screen fills and drum base verifies
Beatles - a new variety. The
girls scream and pull their heads
like migraines. Grimacing,

I scream too through my first
fit of pure love and though my
face and unflipped hair weren't
filmed, I was heavily

involved. Kennedy's funeral
with Jackie stunned and
stunning in her dark dress
receded as

Beatle dolls bobbed on
dashboards in front of
newly moptopped drivers
nodding affirmatively

and the world careened.
Their sweet heads shaking
still today in this techno
sad, two Beatle world.
