My companion, my partner, my cherished bride, and my very dearest friend.
A Wonderful Life

Our hair is turning frosty gray, for time has passed us by,
I know not where the time has gone, twas the batting of an eye.

For in my hand I hold a frame, your picture lies within,
My companion, my partner, my cherished bride, and my very dearest friend.

Upon the face that time has worn, a life of joy we’ve shared,
A thousand memories, a million laughs, and things that we have dared.

But in your eyes I see no change, the sparkle still shines bright,
Like the day we met, and the time we spent, on our blessed wedding night.

Our youth was just a passing thing, to teach us how to share,
To teach us love and harmony, to show us how to care.

From you I learned to hold my own, against adversity,
When you came to me with joy, and I got down on my knee.

For many years we grew to know, our faults, our strengths and more,
I learned that life is always fun, with the one that I adore.

From your heart you taught me faith, from your smile I learned of cheer,
From your lips a gentle kiss, to take away my fear.

The life we brought into this world, from a love we shared so deep,
For into your hands the Lord did place, those lives to hold and keep.

From you I learned the boundless ways, a child can learn to grow,
For in their hearts and in their minds, I watched their faces glow.

But in my heart, tis the little things, that memory holds so dear,
Your chilly toes on a wintry night, you’d press into my rear.

The time we spent in gay Paree, in the shops of crepes and lace,
And as you stood in Painter’s Square, with éclair on your face.

While in Rome the angels sang, to have you close and near,
And I was high in a rowdy pub, drinking mugs of German beer.

For in your heart a beauty lies, that most may never find,
A love for all beyond compare, that makes you warm and kind.

My hair is turning frosty gray, and one day my life will end,
But I spent it with my lovely wife, and my very dearest friend.
