All night the road carried me
by sights unseen before.
Cars passed hurriedly, sadly
drowning out the silent
earthly sounds singing to me.
For each mountain in view
gave a tale of aged wisdom,
hushing worldly worries,
invisible to nature.
Just me and the highway
knowing the trip was the joy.
Lurking around the curves
many mysteries untold.
Never doubting the journey
on this blessed pavement.
Quiet sunsets beckon me,
riding with no purpose
other than for adventure.
Rambling, one with the road
seeking nature’s redemption.
Truth in the path taken,
under skies of miracles
violet clouds carry me through
whispering promises.
Xanadu within my reach,
yet at long last I realize
zen’s the journey, not the end.
