Welcoming change is often harder than it sounds
New beginnings are lingering old wishes;
thoughts kept deep within not ready to be shared.
Dreamy imaginations buried inside,
disguised with false smiles, too afraid to bare.

Goals desired, but fear will render failure,
remain unspoken so they don’t become real.
Explored in isolation, silent comfort.
Begging to become alive, begging to feel.

Afraid to explore what I may not achieve,
never erasing it from my heart, my soul.
Praying for strength to give destiny a chance,
to finally fill the daunting empty hole.

Reflections of needs for fulfillment in life,
‘resolutions’ too simple, too often heard.
Inward contentment I'm unable to name,
a journey to living a life not blurred.

In fetal position of denial,
an illusion, or drop to my knees in prayer?
Needing breath more than I fear disappointment ;
new beginnings transform me, release despair.

Push aside insecurities; welcome change.
Mirror reflects truth as faces stare at me.
Opening the book that will be my story;
turning the page, anxious of what I'll see.

Smiling inwardly, embracing the freedom.
World, accept me vulnerable and raw.
Old wishes become a step to reality,
accepting myself imperfections and all.
