I wrote this when I was almost 20. This is the first time I have ever posted it.
Angel’s Tears

An angel sat crying.
He was a small angel,
And very new to the job.
He had only been in heaven
A few short months.
An older angel came along
And saw his teary face.
“What is wrong, child?”
She asked him softly.
“I could not save her,”
He whispered back.
“I was her guardian angel,
But when she needed me
I could not save her.
The car flew around the corner
Very fast.
My charge, she only five,
But always she listened
To her beloved mother,
And she always walked
Within the safety of the crosswalk.
Early in the morning,
They were walking to school
When the car hit them
As they crossed the street.
Three children lost
In one swift blow.
I could not save her,
It came unexpectedly.
The driver, he was drunk
But he walked away
And left them lying there.”
“I know you couldn’t save them
We can never save them all.”
The older angel replied.
“It goes deeper than that,”
The young one said.
“For she was the daughter
My mother had always longed to have.”
