The feelings of an abused child.
The child abused cries in the dark,
The emotional abuse is just the start.
The ugly bruises, the loosened hair,
The untold secrets she will never share.
Having no friends but the ones in her head,
She holds them close as she lies in her bed.
Wishing the good Lord would take her away,
Why is this happening? Why does he make her stay?
Hoping for one kind word, a hug or a kiss,
She can't remember the last time she had this.
A mother who hates her, a father who won't let her be,
The anger inside her grows like a seed.
No escape, no help from anyone,
She wants her time here on earth to be done.
Can this stop? Will it go away?
Will she live to see another day?
She hates her life, hates what they've made her become,
She knows that they hate her, that she's loved by no one.
The abused child is a complex one,
This battle, this war,
In her mind will never be done.
