Written for my best friend on her birthday

Phases of life
Moving, changing,
Ever flowing one into the other
Like the current of the sea.

Wistful farewells to times past
Holding onto memories
Regretting moments lost.

And yet
A new day is here.
The sunlight dawns
Fresh and vibrant.

Birthing anticipation
Hope for good things to come.
Time and age set aside
To appreciate the wonder of wisdom
To feel the warmth of love
To see the beauty you have become.
