What to do, what do do, when darkness comes and touches you?
Darkness twirls around my head like flies and around a fire.
It makes my thoughts and movements slow, like swimming through the mire.

The darkness moves and sways in time with winds around the world,
and makes me like a metronome, in tune with shadows, swirled.

I do not know if maybe light of morning's dawn will scare
the shadows from my home and house and back into their lair.

And as the shadows draw within and grasp my heart in snow,
the icy cold revives my soul... I don't want it to go.

Is this a death or birth anew, these shadows intertwined?
If I let this darkness hold me, will I then lose my mind?

Or will the darkness give release to hardships of my life
and ease the pain of every day, and dull the sharpened knife?

This darkness twirls around my head as dawn peaks in the sky.
And to the question: What to do? I haven't a reply.
