A metaphorical poem, the title says it all.
All men are ditch diggers,

Filling holes by creating new ones,

They go deeper        and        deeper

Scattered across the landscape,

Standing on the surface of the moon,

It’s all quiet and lifeless here

Like an empty oil well,

Dug straight to the bottom,

It was alive          once

Now just a deserted platform,

Where looking down is like looking up,

I could spend a lifetime filling holes

And

never

see

their

bottoms,

at all
