This poem is about a childhood memory.
My handprint is in the cement of your front porch today
I know you didn’t know
But I remember as though it was yesterday
Just a little girl of seven playing along the way
With my best friend and playmate
Making memories for the day
The construction crew was working that hot summer day
The porch was poured and ready for those two lively little girls at play
I followed Ann so closely as she picked the place to make
Perfect little handprints to be captured without mistake
We laid our tiny hands together
Side by side we made our print
Hoping they would always be there in the cement
So when you spend time together on your front porch someday
Please take time to remember two happy little girls at play
