Everyday with an active 20 month old toddler.
Every morning you greet me with a smile
You stand up in your crib and say "Hi baby!"
I am pleased that is the first phrase you learned
Off to the potty we go and you put your seat on the big seat
A big independent girl you are becoming
You do your tinkle and brush your teeth
We go back to your room to select your clothes
Wanting to help you pull random items out of the drawers
With a mix of colors, you're finally dressed
Out the door we go
Through our 30 minute drive you are "singing" to the radio
At daycare you greet your caregiver with a hug and point to your bag
Out we bring your oatmeal for you to eat and hopefully not wear
Off to work I have to go and you wave to me as I leave
All I do is think about you those 8 hours I'm not there
I charge out the door to the office building once 4pm hits
I walk in the door to the house of your daycare
Many times you don't notice that I have arrived
You enjoy your playmates' company
When you finally spot me at the door you cry "Mama"
You run to me with out-stretched arms with your toddler grin
I hear good news with your potty-training
You made it all day without a change
Most days you need one change
My little girl is growing so fast
Home we go to greet grandpa
"Papa" you shout as you run and give grandpa a hug
We watch "It's a big big world" while dinner is cooking
Grandma comes home and you run to her saying "Gegee"
Daddy is always the last one home
"Daddy" you say while you give him a food-filled hug
Its almost bath time so you finish your applesauce dessert
Splash, splash, splash is how bath time is filled
You love the water and your bath toys
I ask you if you're ready to get out
"No" you say and shake your little head
15 minutes go by with your water time fun
Once dried off you take off in your birthday suit
Bed time pull-ups and warm jammies are tackled on you
Daddy comes in to read you a bed time story
Slowly you nod off in dreamland while classical music plays
Mommy can't wait for the weekend when 8 hours of emptiness is filled
