A satire upon those prone to say: "Come on, fight like a man."
MANLY V. WOMANLY: a sonnet

Is it manly to pick a gun and shoot,
Or womanly to rather prefer calm?
Whatever be, but it is rather brute
To wield the machete rather than the balm.

Instead of talking, why itch for a fight?
For wise people that’s not how to behave.
Of logical discussion, why make light?
Why hedge around the point and rant and rave?

Those who move about challenging people
Are not too manly, ask your own conscience.
Why be happy snooping like a beagle,
Looking for signs of a tiny offence?

If fighting others be a manly trait,
A world without fighting men would be great.
