What I am and who I am is ultimately the same thing.
We walk through (color)
Live in (color)
Judge by (color)
We are (color)

I am (color)
A romantic (color)
An educated (color)
A ‘warrioress’ (color)

I can feel my color in the air
Pushing through races (everywhere)
Just by the reality of its presence

When I touch a thing
I give it color (red/orange)
And when I see a place
I color it too (yellow/green)
Because my color is throughout me

When I open my mouth
My color comes out (blue/purple)
And speaks the truth as it happens to me
When I open my heart
My color comes out (red/orange/yellow/green/blue/purple)
And shows my faith for everyone to see
Because color is a constant in my soul

I am, I am, I am
A palate of imperfection
Not one thing or another
Just all these mixed up colors
That make me beautiful

My color picks me up (I am black)
My color keeps me strong (I am white)
My color gives me hope for change (I am in between)
Because my color envelops everything

It is who I am and what I breathe
It is inside of me
My life, my dreams
Are resonating with it

Color (I am)
