Poem about my grandfather's life, his death and his family
An honorable mention
Badges on ledges of humanitarian life long lived
Brought back to reality, brought back home
To times long passed but never forgotten
Remembered through the reels of black and white

The tape that ties the memories and smiles
To a present clock that ticks through
New life, soft skin, pure clarity

The boats sail through the harbor of your thoughts
To a new beginning of love, peace and war

The end never comes when all is kept preserved
Though scattered and strewn over the miles
Untravelled by most yet distantly familiar
To a more youthful self

A promise kept of the same ritual as the last
A new era we keep close to our hearts
Never to fall away from all that is close in our blood
