This poem is taken from my first anthology, its about loss....love and betrayal
The Eden of my heart

Tendrils of fear and doubt
Creep in like a vine
To cover what is left
Of this once beautiful Eden that’s mine
Growing so densely
As to hide its location from the world
Once sunlight illuminated every corner
Yet it barely shines now

Its blossoming hope and love
Were a beautiful symmetry
That all were allowed to share
Allowed to touch
Allowed to see
But the Eden of my heart
Was savaged by others fear
As the reckless planted
Forbidden fruits of betrayal here

One by one
The iridescent blooms began to die
When the petals fell
They covered like a blanket
As a cloud would in the sky
Dreams of love and kindness withered
As Eden mourned and wept
My Eden fell into disrepair
As like whirl winds in they swept
The Eden of my heart
Once well tendered
Vandalised by disrespect

For Eden to return
Everything omitted
Was upon me to reprieve
So in my heart I sowed
New found seeds of belief
But soil made infertile
Spouted just sadness
Longing and grief
The Eden of my heart now lies
In shadows of its former self
Its gates remain sealed and locked
The key resting on a shelf
