Loss of childhood
Where Once An Innocent Child Stood

The laughter rings loud,

As once the child stood so proud.

Taken from her happy place,

It only took a moment to create a saddened face!

Left in the corner, now full of fear,

The secrets took hold,

Her spirit sold,

And all this where once an innocent child stood!

Wrapped in chains, fighting the pain,

The fingers stretch, but all in vain.

The key is out of reach,

For her innocence they did breach.

Locked up now, no words are spoken,

A happy heart now badly broken.

And all this where once an innocent child stood!

Falling down, no energy left to get to the ground,

Mind, heart, body and spirit bound,

Bound in chains, no lock to free,

She cannot see.

And so the walls build ever higher,

Between her world and all others.

And all this where once an innocent child stood!

Lying down in fear,

Things suddenly become clear.

So, she struggles to her feet,

Reaching out, only to face yet another defeat.

Yet she sees eyes looking back at her,

Where has she seen this face before?

And all this where once an innocent child stood!

Her wall so thick, she forgot to look,

Now those eyes in a strangers face,

Call out to plead their case.

Falling fast into the past,

The memories have been cast.

Eyes pull face to face, she cannot leave this place.

And all this where once an innocent child stood!

Heart and mind inextricably entwined.

Is it a stranger, or is it me?

Eyes lock on eyes, bodies pulled together,

Soul crashes soul, where has she seen this face before?

Two hearts now one, as pain breaks through the hidden wall,

It is me, looking back at me, I hear the inner child's deafening call.

And all this where once an innocent child stood!

No longer able to seperate,

The flying mind to the earth bound body becomes as one.

No longer having the energy to run.

It is me that shakes and quivers, not a stranger,

I feel the danger.

I have tried to fly, but only angels die,

Why can no one hear my strangled cry?

Tried to break these chains, if only I could....

No longer an innocent child stood!!!!
