death of childhood fantasy
                                                  NEVER-NEVER LAND

Once upon a time,
The child knew no crime,
She saught only to play,
Until that fateful day.

Dreams of never-never land,
Crushed and taken,
Why was the child left forsaken,
Innocence now, buried deep in the sand.

Playing with fairies, pirates she did fight,
Now, all she does, is run from her evil plight,
Nothing but fear, left in her sight,
Is this new pain stronger than her might?

Dark shadows encompass the mind,
Of one who now finds it hard to remember anything kind,
Is a fate of pain and sorrow now sealed and signed?
Or can this child leave sadness behind?

Dark or light,
Flight or fight,
Angels weep,
Will the devil sleep?
