Story for 100 Words No Repeat Contest.
Killer waits patiently. Cars whoosh past outside. Birds chirp, children laugh, breezes sigh. Tick-tocking minute hands in living room and kitchen.

At six o'clock people leave their jobs, enter vehicles, head home. By seven they relax on couches, start eating dinner.

Tonight, one man comes here, where someone expects him. Hours have passed, time an endless gray blur, blending exhaustion with anticipation into nothingness.

A truck pulls up. Footsteps. The master of this house has finally arrived. Tensing muscles anticipate his entrance. Keys jingle, lock clicks, door creaks open.

Spring! Flying body rushes forward.

"Hey, boy!"

Dog greets human.
