One of my first poems. I've always found rhyming poems enjoyable to read.
Until Then

Wake me when the thunder’s clap becomes a lull
And heavy drops do lightly fall.
When sunlight’s rays fall on your face
Caressing skin heat leaves its trace.
When harsh winds ease and you do feel
Beneath large trees the sweetest breeze.
Until then, I lie sleeping.

Should the sand beneath your feet
Be always soft and warm from heat,
And while you dance free in the street
When you are safe from battling fleets
Do wake me.

If children’s cries you realize
Come not from pain but joy of life.
When bombs in ears turn into cheers
Of people who love deeply
Till then I dream profoundly.

Should I wake still in a state
Of fear and great anxiety,
I’ll curse you then my once true friend
Life's anguish in sobriety.
