It's difficult to accept being forgotten by someone you thought loved you.
All the words, the thoughts, the dreams, we shared so much
The adventures, sights, losses, victories, laughter, tears, feelings, the way we touched
How did you forget it all?
And why can't I?
The kindnesses, thoughtfulness, listening when you spoke, the promise to always be the best of friends
Yet, in the end
How did you forget you and me?
And why can't I?
Had a funeral service, a memorial for the memories
Put everything away in a box
Buried my hopes and dreams for our future,
Filed them in my heart with no key to unlock
But the memories still creep out to haunt me
There's no need to lie
Yes, every now and then I have one good cry
How did you forget us?
And why can't I?
