A thought-provoking poem about sex.
The sexual urge is one of Nature’s
strongest of inbred instincts in every
animal. Many men, one conjectures,
have been ruined by sexual reverie.

It’s inbred in male animals to seek
sex with many females so’s to disperse
their genes rather widely. This technique
suits him; the baby he doesn’t bear or nurse.

Females by instinct are more selective
since their baby benefits from the best
genes from the fittest male. They’re protective,
cold, ’til they choose one male above the rest.

By instinct and hormones, males are ready,
waiting for the female to become compliant.
Males roar, display their strengths …“Choose already!”
The female screens her suitors, defiant.

Modern female humans do not desire
brute muscle, but his earnings and power
impress her; these make him an accepted sire
for her offspring…his and hers becomes our.

Marriage vows are society’s attempt
at putting a veneer of needed restraint
on their sexual urges, showing contempt
for partners who stray and their vows taint.

Yet the sexual instinct is so strong
that a majority of men and thirty
percent of the women will still do wrong.
This causes calling sex evil or dirty.

When will humans accept that sex is not
rational, not an intellectual activity
derived from cautious thoughts that got
vetted well. No, lost is one’s objectivity.

Sexual urges are primal instincts at play,
behavior dictated throughout past eons
to insure that all animal species stay.
To its success, Mother Nature sings paeans.

Passion set aflame by hormones surging
in the blood overpowers logic and
common sense. Animal instinct is urging
sex take place. Most obey its demand.

Sexual instincts and raging hormones
make teenagers to elderly behave
in ridiculous ways. Talking via phones
for hours, saying nothing. They crave

the other beyond reason. Married men
willingly risk wife, children for a fling.
When caught, reality sets in, too late then.
Ruin does unchecked hormones usually bring.

Politicians risk office and power
for a meaningless act, too soon over.
Yes, primitive instincts often tower
above the male mind … Nature’s carryover.

Before all you women laugh too quickly,
consider the lengths otherwise intelligent
females put themselves to – makeup thickly
applied, hair worries, a wide assortment

of body issues… too short, too fat, hair
wrong color, bad hair style, hair in wrong place,
breasts too small – got to get augmented there.
Plastic surgery will keep me a “pretty face”.

It’s all to make yourselves attractive to the male.
Sex drives almost all human interactions.
Why do females measure their worth without fail
by their looks? Is all but sex merely distractions?

It’s sexual instincts that decide a woman
is valued for her looks. Intellect would stress
her personality, intelligence, humor more than
her breasts’ size. If only sex mattered less …

Civilization has failed to conquer in Man
primitive sexual instincts to date.
One wonders how many centuries more can
sex defeat Man’s intellect. We can only wait.
