Dear Brother...
Dear Brother,

Do you remember our childhood?
We would imagine adventures for our toys,
The danger seeking monkey and the carefree lion.
We would make up endless journeys,
And when obstacles got in their way…
We decided their fate.
They were under our power.

As we got older we had to face the real world.
We fought each other because there was no one else.
We had realised that nothing was under our power anymore.
But I remember us joining allegiances
Only to stand up to our intense parenting.

Now we’re even older,
You’re on the other side of the world.
It would take a 19 hour flight
To answer my childhood question “where Bub?”
With the reply of “here,” laughed out of your grinning mouth.

So as I await that moment,
I realise that we are the same.
We share so many things: thoughts, experiences, blood.
We both want to be the lion and the monkey once more,
Free to roam a magnificent world.

I feel a bond, unbroken by land and sea,
Reaching out to wherever you are.
I think its always been there,
But I never wanted it as much as I do now.
I wish I could take that bond and pull it with you on the other end.
I wish I could bring you back home, but I cant.
So you must come back,
Take your awaited place at my side.
We’ll leave them behind
And show the world who we are.

Come back, Bub.
