This is first person form the point of view of Apollo desiring Daphne.
Perfect nymph, you’ve been hit by bolt of lead
Eros’ bitter shot makes your detest spread
Is that wound why you view me with such dread
Your harsh ignorance of me bleeds me dead

I too was struck by an Eros arrow
Golden in hew deep within my marrow
Nymphish voice and smile like a sparrow
Smoothing my bedlam soul like a harrow

You ran away from me with a shiver
To your father Peneus the river
Your sad wish he shall grant and deliver
My curses to Eros and his quiver

I am but left with your body floral
‘Shall never forget you by this laurel
