A moment that changed a life
The blood flowing from my body
The warm feeling of the red substance
The lack of movement of my left side
Laying in the deep wet sand
My unit running all around
I try and move and everything goes black
When i woke it was bright out i looked around and no ones there
I felt myself dying
I breathed in deep
Started coughing up blood
Was i shot or stabbed?
Did i trip or fall?
What happened?
I just want to go home
Wait i hear something
It sounds like a person
I hope their here to help
"Hang in there Soldier"
I hear faintly as i pass in and out
I open my eyes
I see my family
Their crying for my pain
My son is standing beside the bed
He looks up at me and screams
"Daddy, I love you"

The tears flowing from my eyes
The cold feeling of the clear substance
The lack of movement in my body
Laying on a hospital bed
My family all aroud
I try and move
Screaming from the pain
The doctor runs in
He presses a button
The pain goes away
Oh how lucky i am
To survived that
I looked out of my body
Im missing my right arm
Along with my left hand
Wait up to my left knee is blown off
Thats not too bad ive seen worse
As long as im alive
"Clear"
What was that my chest hurts now
"Clear, a little more"
Ouch my heart
I breathed in deep
Where am i
Its white walls everywhere
Needles in and out of my body
Bang a bullet from out of nowhere
What was that, a shot
I pass out once again
I open my eyes
All i see is bodies falling
At every sound of a round
A soldier dropped
A whistling sound "Oh Shit"
I hear screams of incoming
A mortar, i cant move
I try but its not possible
As the mortar hit
I saw a huge cloud
Sand going everwhere
Bodies flying weightlessly
The shockwave knocked me out
"Clear"
Ouch my heart
What is this that is hurting my chest
I open my eyes
Im standing in from of millions
"I was given a purple hearts
i give this to my fallen comrades in battle
part of me wishes i died with them
but im so lucky to be alive?"
