a girl wants her father to know the impact he had on her life
To a little girl walking in your footsteps
You were a giant of a man
When something broke down or needed attention
You were there to fix it
If I expressed a new interest
You cheered me on and made my dreams come true
To an unsure teenager growing up
You were a valiant protector
When my close friends broke my heart
You were there to dry my tears
If I ever needed anything
You sacrificed time and money to take care of me

To your baby girl now
You are the one I admire
When my world starts spinning too fast
You are a steady rock
If I need you any time of day or night
You are there to solve my problems

After all these years, Daddy, I just want you to know….

You’re still a giant of a man
Making my dreams come true
You’re still a valiant protector
Taking care of me
And, even when I fall in love
You’re still going to be my daddy
And I’ll still be the little girl
Walking in your footsteps
