Was walking home from school in the rain and mud and was inspired to write this.
A dreary autumn day
Drenched by the onslaught of pouring rain.
Every day this same old strain
Upon the spirit and yet no gain.

Thrudging through the deep moist dirt
Trying to find out what life is worth.
And for much I have to live
But every moment I have to give.

Another step into
The soaking fields.
The sound of the rain pounding the dirt
Is so surreal.
Further I walk.
I keep getting stuck in the mud
Sinking into the deep.
And for this life I love
I pull up my feet.

Though the rain may descend
I try to bring out the sun
For every bad day will have its end.
We can't just always go "we're done."

And over slippery grass
And thick layers of soaking leaves
Burdened by this large mass
Burdened by this grief.

But I will carry on!
For every new dawn
Brings up my next chance
One last chance...

Another step into
The soaking fields.
The sound of the rain pounding the dirt
Is so surreal.
Further I walk.
I keep getting stuck in the mud
Sinking into the deep.
And for this life I love
I pull up my feet.

In the mud of my life
I keep trudging on.
For to keep living life
You can't simply wait for the moisture to be gone.

Now I brave the storm alone.
All I want to do is get home.
The sound of rain constantly drones.
If I slipped and fell to my death
Would it be known?

Or would I fall face first to the road?
And wait for it to erode.
Suck me down into the ground
It's not like I'd ever be found.

But no, I must get to my feet.
The soil I refuse to meet.
Dead inside is how I feel
But the life outside is real!

Another step into
The soaking fields.
The sound of the rain pounding the dirt
Is so surreal.
Further I walk.
I keep getting stuck in the mud
Sinking into the deep.
And for this life I love
I lift up my feet...

I lift up my feet!!
