A letter to an abused friend of mine that our society likes to label as "time".
I wrote this one out of a spur of the moment late night writing craze. I ended up using it for a visual assignment for my High School English class.

Time

My dear friend,
The world asks too much of you.

I know you cannot hurry
I know you cannot slow down
I know you cannot stop
I know you cannot rewind yourself
I know that you simply are

We label you
We curse you
We pull you
We push you
We try to buy you back
We watch you pass us by
But we are never with you
Why are we never with you?

You are not the problem
you should not be blamed
It is us who stand guilty
It is us who fail to understand
- to appreciate

We cannot see your beauty
For we live so far away
For we live in tomorrow
For we live in yesterday

And you live in the now
A place many of us have never known
Or have once known
Or will someday know

Too few of us are your friend
