A bird in a cage is a sad thing to behold.
Watching birds flit and flutter

In ivory slits make me shudder

Tweet and Chirp

They wish to alert

Those who watch and laugh

Why do you think you can stray from this path?

All in vain do you sing

As your echos hit the breathing walls of ivory ring.

So then we come to the silent lark.

Who plots and schemes boldly to those who hark.

"Beyond this are things unseen,

"Which I will do and places where I will have been!"

But at her longest tail feather

Lies the truth gaping wide like a cat's fangs at its nether.

Oh Lark do you not see?

What lies beneathe you is what was always to be?

Your feed is from the Keeper!

Your swing is from the Keeper!

Understand not the reality of your station?

Or do you prefer to live in ignorance and resist that sorry discouraged elation?

Stop lying to yourself lark

Look inward at the truth, it's quite stark.

So the lark realized

After biting at those ivory rungs and bocoming immobilized

After screeching at the trees that didn't exist

She discovered it was futile to resist.

So on her swing she did perch

To stare and not to search.

To be mute

For silence to suit.

As the Keeper watched...as he always did

The now silent lark.
