Awakening one morning in an old forgotten place and time. Filled with fantasy and romance.
A Bittersweet Reunion

Slowly awakening from a trance like sleep,
I'd forgotten slipping into after counting heavenly sheep.

To be honest, I didn't know to whether I was sleeping or awake,
Time had literally stopped and this was surely no mistake!

The early morning sun’s rays beaming into my room,
Somehow made me feel much younger, relieving my gloom.

I began to look around and what I thought was my home,
to find myself in a forgotten paradise which I was more than eager to roam.

It was in my teenage room filled with my favorite things,
Like my jewelry box and fairy tale books filled with queens and kings.

The music box opened magically as it's tune caressed my ear,
It was the melody of the "Nutcracker" and faded memories reappeared.

Emerging from my musical jewelry box, was my beloved ballerina
Reminding me off of myself when I once danced in a sold out arena.

Composed of porcelain and glitter, twirling effortlessly on her toe,
As she slowed down and came to life, but how I’ll never know.

Excited to watch her move for she was no longer a figurine,
She moved fluently with such elegance as I did when I was a teen

She soared high into the air to land on my fairy tale book.
This became her new stage which she quickly overtook.

Next the room grew dim as a spotlight shined,
and this beautiful dance princess who was surely inclined,

To meet for herself ballet partner, a handsome prince at best,
Then appearing out of the book was a long forgotten guest.

Arriving on the platform, their eyes locked, before an embrace,
and he whispered gently in her ear, “It was you I’d always chase”.

Feeling her soul stir during this precious moment’s glory,
She began to remember they had once written their own story.

It began lifetimes ago in England on a dusty, scuffed up stage,
There they met at an audition. I’ll have to turn their page.

He reminded her “The first time I saw you in your costume of pink,
The orchestra began playing and we danced in perfect sync“.

She pleaded to him breathlessly “Let’s never part again,
for imprisoned in that box is where my heart could never mend”.

Out of nowhere I found myself back in my house.
Sitting in my rocking chair whie missing my late spouse.

The jewelry box and fairy tales were nowhere to be found.
A loud silence filled my house, not a melody, not a sound.

Unexpectedly a ray of light had struck my heart with wonder
Realizing time, space, and distance could never place our hearts asunder.

It was my love who came to visit me, sending warmth, hope and peace
And when the time comes for me to pass, our separation will finally cease.

We’ll meet up on the moon beginning another tale of romance,
Searching the galaxy for a star for the brightest star to begin a whole new dance…

The End which is The Beginning
