For a friend, who I wish was still just that.
A philosophical journey inside my mind,
It's time to relax, time to undwind, and rewind.
To a time when I could breathe just fine
With it all at my fingertips and you by my side.
Taking over the world one bridge at a time,
Trying to see through the smoke and bad wine.
Take me back to the days when everything was alright
And the scrawlings in my heart were still mine.

Finding peace in a Hallelujah I don't believe,
Finding you in moments I'm supposed to be me.
Just a subtle tribute,
To everything I couldn't give you.
I'll pick up the pieces,
Of a life I once believed in
Wake up, put on your face,
Pat out the bruises, who are you today?

Am I small enough to stand in your shadow?
Am I broken enough for you even though.
Everything I know revolves around a moment,
When I can feel the sky, time is frozen.
The only stars are behind your eyes,
Daydreams, nightmares, a pleasant surprise.
Demons live in me, but only in disguise,
Waiting, smiling, breaking all my ties.

I'll never be quite what you need,
Trying to survive on the words you read.
Tell me you're a soldier, I'll ask you to fight,
Tell me you're hurting, prove that you're alive.
Selfish, pretentious, my little angel.
Calm on the surface, perfectly unstable...
