the ideals of a young pacifist
A little boy
Plays with his toys
Soldiers, tanks, and guns
Is war fun?

The sun was unseen
As the day began
Because of the lingering smoke
That covered the land

The night before
Stayed on his mind
As he tried to remember
A happier time

Before roaring bombs
Kept him awake at night
Before death and hate
Became a familiar sight

Normal things like sleep
Had long since gone away
To be replaced by nightmares
Of explosions as bright as day

Tired and hungry
Yet he fought on
Hope of peace
Was completely gone

Another man to kill
Still more lie in wait
Unknown and uncaring
What is his own fate?

Remaining still he listened
For the enemy to come
Another victim of his gun
Not remembering his home...

Home...
So long ago
When he was a little boy
Playing with his toys
Soldiers, tanks, and guns
Is war fun?
