Why I write.
Poetry starts off as a song in my head.
When I get it together, I write down every word I mentally said.

I write to the beat of the music in my ear.
I write about everything; even what I fear.
I write about what means the most to me.
I even write about what I think is supposed to be.

Sometimes, I write about nothing.
Even then, what I’m saying means something.
You just have to read between the lines.
I write my feelings down because my eyes lie.
My emotions, I don’t know how to verbalize,
so I use pen and paper.
I write about what I want to last forever,
even though,
I know
nothing lasts that long.
I write about what’s going on.
Killing.
Dying children.
Families being torn apart.
Kids being abandoned.  People starving.  All the things that hurt my heart.

I write to keep myself sane.
I write to keep from raising Kane.
I want to keep my mind clear,
so I write down everything I don’t verbally share.
There are so many things my heart and mind has to say.
When I write, I know everything is going to be okay.
When I write, emotions I try to portray.
Words are always in my mind’s sight.
That’s why I write.
