Sempre (Always)

He didn’t start that way -- once Pedro -- youthful, playful child in Concilio.

One evening, the heavens broke. Rain fell, dripping oddish sprinkles of chemical-laced precipitation.

Overnight boyhood changed. Mannish shoulders developed along with an overwhelming thirst for blood.

Moon-locked spells divvy blessings or curses:

strength,

speed,

longevity,

endurance

endless nights.

When witches fly, bats flutter, warlocks creep across chasms –

Sempre haunts hills, dales, trails, woods, forests --

women’s rooms.

Timid knock.

Gasp.

Wide eyes.

Soft-spoken request.

Smiles exchanged.

Gentle caresses.

Drugged kisses.

Bittersweet sighs.

Love.

Swift fanged touch.

Closed lids.

Silence

Sated now,

Black Death walks.

Alone

Forever.
