This is a poem about domestic violence; a woman's last minutes before death.
Under the Alpha Male


Target of primal rage
echo your cries of pain,
"curl up",
"do as your told."

An incursion of might;
fists pounding, drowning
your body
he would not hold.

Under auspice of terror
overcome, numb
by death,
tranquility for cold.

You're building a wall
savoir faire, even now
reaching out
beyond his control.
