A very important lesson from my sophomore language arts teacher.
Teacher said, "Make every word matter.
Be stingy with your 'the's and 'a's;
conserve every 'i'.
Paint your nouns with adjectives,
but only matching dyes.
Keep your metaphors clear,
and symbolism too.
Figurative language can be a mess,
if we don't know who you're referring to.
But most importantly of all,
in no matter what opinion your writing is leaning,
or what others think is right and wrong,
fill every single word with meaning."
