A rhymed poem about getting very inspired late at night, right before I go to sleep
When night arrives barefoot and meek
I'll let flutter away what song I seek
Return my paints and resign my brain
Admit the dry hours to die in vain
Undo the day and blink both eyes
Accompany sleepwalk with shallow sighs
See the hearth's fire cry its last breath
Sit in darkness after watching its death
Shuffle to my room with the walls painted blue
Where everything's safe and everything's true
Slide into sheets that offer respite
But can't slip away, try as I might
Spot projector-like beams shoot over my head
And find a hole in the wall above my bed
Fix my left eye to catch what's coming through
And a trigger goes off, turning old new
Growing rich fruit on dark withered trees
Unleashing colors that spring from deep seas
Revealing secrets we asked not to know
Making an ocean from mountains of snow
And just when there's music I'd love to keep
I'm cast away into soundless sleep
