Flash fiction, lost in a familiar place...
Brain Freeze

Surrounded, encircled, bounded, enclosed…I cannot move from my place of confinement.  It is a small space, crowded with minuscule, hardly visible lightning flashes, synapses flashing across the gap and sending a silent scream to reverberate, echoing endlessly in this enclosed, bounded, encircled, bulbous space.

I am trapped in my head.  I want to scream, “Let me out!”  Ah, but my mouth obeys the hardly visible lightning flashes that like a neon light flashes endlessly, NO! NO! NO!

My eyes will not open…again the synapses flash across the gap, and though my lashes flutter, my eyes remain closed, and though I draw breath and exhale through my nose I can hear nothing.  Like my mouth, my ears are closed.

I cannot see, hear or smell, if I have hands I am not aware of them or of a body even…LET Me OUT…I scream silently.

No one hears me…I am encircled, bounded and completely enclosed.

Surrounded by silence, I am alone.
