Describing how sometimes we hide our true feelings behind different disguises.
In the morning when I wake up I put on my clown face,
Making sure that my smile is painted on just right not to leave a trace,
A trace of the hurt and pain that still exists under my disguise,
I add the pink to my cheeks hoping that it covers the stained tears from your lies,
Then I dress up my eyes to make them appear happy and bright,
Arrays of colors to chase away the loneliness and sadness I felt through the night,
I pray that one day I will wash away this fake smile,
Revealing an honest smile that I hadn’t been able to smile in quite awhile,
I pray that one day I will wash away this blush that hides my stained tears,
Removing the stains and removing these fears,
I pray that one day I will wash away this make up that covers my eyes,
Revealing the truth that I am no longer controlled by your demise.
I pray that one day I will no longer need this clown face to hide behind,
But one day, Love, Strength, Honesty and Myself I will find.
