poem about moving on
Renter wanted for this house I use to call a home,
Life has passed me by, its ups and its downs has left me all alone,
I’m boxing up memories of loved ones that have passed,
Sweeping up broken picture frames of lovers that needed smashed,
Walking into the bedroom that I gave my innocence to,
Brought me to my knee’s, you told me you loved me, I thought I loved you,
Pictures that use to cover these walls as I walk down this empty hall,
Remind me of all the time’s I was promised, “I’ll catch you if you fall,”
The bathroom has been cleaned, the shower curtain taken down,
No more nights crying in the shower to hide the sound,
All the furniture and boxes from the rooms have been cleared,
Rooms empty just like my heart by the people in my life who’ve disappeared,
Taking one last look around, making sure there’s nothing that I’ve missed,
Remembering the good times, the sad times, people I miss, people I’ve kissed,
I’m walking out the door and hiding the key,
Renter wanted because this ‘home’ no longer belongs to me.
