A dream, that's all it was. A dream of some things you know you may never get.
Dreams;
Your brains way of teasing you,
From the inside.
I dream a dream,
A dream of love,
A dream of fear.
Nothing the same.

Floating,
Floating on air.
Seeing all from above.
Things that were,
Things that are,
And some things,
That have not yet come to pass.
Seeing it all,
Gives me the shivers,
Painful ones.

I can see someone,
Standing there.
The beach I think,
A dock or pier perhaps,
Sunset.
Dusk,
Twilight.
They look up.
It's him,
The one my soul has been searching for,
For all eternity.
Do I know you?
No,
Couldn't possibly.
But, you're so familar,
You, the familar stranger.
He glows with a light,
Bright,
Entrancing,
Blinding.

My soul floats closer,
Closer.
My fingers reach to stroke his cheek,
He smiles, reaches to place his hand,
Over my own.
Like an Angel,
He is,
So different from the rest.
We say not a word,
Silence.
But filled with every word imaginable.
Strange.

My soul leans closer,
Closer.
Closer to him,
Him,
My love,
My soulmate.
Forever,
Have I been searching,
Nothing compared,
To him.

A force,
Pulls me back,
Back to the sky.
NO! I scream,
Take me back,
Take me back to my love,
My soulmate!

The force doesn't relent,
Clouds,
Wizzing by.
Space, now I am.
No air,
No air.
Not a breath,
Not a breath.
Suffocating.
Death.
Darkness.
Was it ever meant for me at all?

I wake,
A dream,
All a dream.
Safe,
Alone,
Familiar.

Tears overflow,
And stream down my face.
That's all it was.
A dream,
A dream,
And that's all it will ever be;
A dream.
Nothing more.
