She sang “You taught me how to dance,”
Delightful, seeking to beguile,
For I knew nothing of romance…

You took my hand I saw you smile,
That smile that reassured my heart,
That smile that said we’d never part
You said “come sir, we’ll dance awhile.”

There in that dance of life I found
A course beyond my turbulence,
A harbour that’s both safe and sound…

I’m glad “You taught me how to dance”
And darling as I dance with you,
I’m gliding as if in a trance;
To that old world I say, adieu…

I have a life, I’m now aware,
For I have you; and love to share…
