A poem about still being in love after a break-up
I once swore, I'd love no more
Devotion to no soul.
No one but me, Alone to be,
No half of any whole.

She changed my mind, Her words were kind
She got into my heart.
Within my mind, with time and grind
I saw a future start.

It could not be, She would not see,
The person I became.
We'd fight and fight, though neither right,
And suffered through the pain.

I gave my best, I braved the test,
And crumbled to my feet.
My victory evaded me,
My failure was complete.

Alone again, to stroll again,
The path leads where it will.
I cannot cry, but can't deny,
In truth, I love her still

I don't regret, don't pout or fret,
My smile shall ever beam.
If I can't have her in my life,
I'll keep her in my dreams...
