the other side of love

Love is the one emotion

That we all wish to own

We wish that it would grow

Like the flowers that we’ve sown

The poets they all praise it

They say what love might be

This gift that’s sent from heaven

Just sent for you and me

But all I wish to tell you

This isn’t what I’ve found

This isn’t my experience

When love has come around

I’ve looked at all the verse

But love to me means pain

It feels so cold and bitter

Like the freezing winter rain

The singers they all tell you

Of how it’s strong and true

But love is to me a lie

It’s there to torture you

In love at it’s beginning

It promises all to you

And when it disappears

It leaves you feeling blue

They say love’s like a flower

That will grow out in the rain

But love it needs no water

Love only feeds on pain

For me love is a fire

Full of twists and turns

But when it lets you go

It will leave you with it’s burns

And so it’s my experience

And I give it all to you

That for me love hurts

These words for me are true

So sing to me no songs

Of love that is so true

Just sing to me of pain

The kind love gives to you
