A man pondering on the high's and the low's of love
I sit here and I ponder

On love and what it means

But I just get confused

Love isn’t as it seems

When I was young and foolish

And love was just a dream

In my mind I saw your eyes

And gloried in their gleam

I thought that love was beautiful

It was so innocent and pure

There was no problem in the world

That love just could not cure

I thought of who might be the one

With whom I’d share my life

And give to her my heart and soul

When she became my wife

And when at last I found you

It seemed my dreams were true

I went down on bended knee

And gave my heart to you

And so we loved together

Our love just grew and grew

There it seemed all my dreams

In you had all come true

Then came the day as I still see

When death dropped in to call

Then our love which was so high

At last began to fall

Though the doctors tried so hard

As your life they tried to save

I remember it so vividly

Standing crying at your grave

And the love which seemed so pure

Our love which had no stain

All at once was turned around

When love was turned to pain

For now my dreams are broken

And Inside I feel confused

All my dreams I had of love

Have only left me bruised

Now I’m not so innocent

My eyes are now so clear

All that’s left of my love

Is a single lonely tear

And now that I have pondered

How life can be so cruel

Love is an illusion

And I am just a fool
