Every Family has its problems.
Standing by your side
I’m all alone in everything else.
Alike in blood alone,
The one piece that doesn’t quite fit.
Jagged edges trying to
Mesh with the others…

Talking, laughing, acting
Like everything is normal,
Everyone belongs.
But I know within
That I will never have that feeling,
In the pit of my heart,
Of a piece sliding into place.

You’re so exclusive,
But you don’t realize
That you are cutting me out,
Piece by piece from the
Family picture.
And I know it can’t be
On purpose.

But I’m so different,
The fawn among the pride.
I don’t think the same,
Act the same, dress the same…
Because no matter how hard
I try to be otherwise-
I’m still just me.

And I can never be the same,
I will wear the same clothes,
Talk the same talk.
But when you peer into my eyes,
You will see straight through
To my soul, my deepest desires,
My true personality,
My deepest regrets.

And you all try to welcome me,
But I’m the one who snuck in
After the opening credits,
The show has already begun
And I can’t rewind.
