A poem about building your life on the foundation of God and not on earthly things.
Trial and Error
by: MaryEllen Herrera

I once built my house out of sand
But then I heard the Lord say,
“Why build your house out of sand
when sand will soon wash away.”

Trials came and winds did blow,
The sand of my house did stay,
But then the trial became so big
That my house made of sand blew away.

I once built my house out of wood
But then I heard the Lord say,
“Why build your house out of wood
when wood will soon decay.”

Trials came and winds did blow,
The wood of my house stood tall,
But soon the trial became so big
That my house made of wood did fall.

I once built my house out of rock,
And then I heard the Lord say,
“You built your house out of rock,
now it will forever stay.”

Trials came and winds did blow,
The rock of my house stood sound,
Even when it seemed that it would fall,
My house built on THE ROCK stood its ground.
