Dedicated to a child who was found in box in the gulf.
That Pretty Little Girl

She was a pretty little girl
with a bright, enchanting young smile
and hair that was long with a curl.
But life to her would be most vile.

Her parent's divorce made her cry.
She was a pretty little girl
who told her sad father good bye.
And mother's deeds would soon unfurl.

She used to love to dance and swirl,
but people later caused her pain.
She was a pretty little girl
whose urgent cries were made in vain.

Her body was dumped in a box
in the fetid bay they would hurl
a wretched victim one unlocks.
She was a pretty little girl.

Dedicated to the children who are abused and sometimes do not survive. October 29th, will mark the three year anniversary of the dear little child found in a plastic box in the gulf near here. It is a tragedy that needs to be addressed.
The style is a quatern that uses a refrain in a special place.
