fairy tales are fantasies
Once upon a time, when fairy tales came true,
I believed in love and I believed in you.
Once upon a time, when princes became kings,
Future plans and dreams soared on tiny wings.

But, fairy tales are fantasies that little girls believe.
Happily ever after tales are told to the naïve.
Promises get broken; dreams can lose their wings;
Princes never come to be, they’re doing other things.

Once upon a time, or, so the story goes,
Start all over, try again, the ending no one knows.
